Here's a breakdown of the latest developments across several key news areas:

Air India Crash

A preliminary report by India's Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) has shed light on the Air India Flight 171 crash that occurred on June 12, involving a Boeing 787 Dreamliner. The flight, en route to London, crashed shortly after takeoff from Ahmedabad airport, resulting in 241 fatalities out of the 242 people on board. In addition, 19 people on the ground were killed and 67 injured. A British national was the sole survivor.

Key findings from the report indicate that the aircraft's fuel control switches mysteriously moved from the "run" to the "cutoff" position, causing both engines to shut down within one second. This led to an immediate loss of altitude and the subsequent crash. The report also revealed that one pilot asked, "Why did you cut off?", with the other responding, "I did not do so," suggesting possible miscommunication.

The AAIB's report also noted a past advisory from the FAA regarding a potential flaw in the fuel-control switch system. This advisory highlighted the potential disengagement of the locking feature. Air India stated that they did not conduct an inspection in response to this advisory, as compliance was not mandatory.

An aviation safety expert has suggested the possibility of deliberate human action, potentially a pilot-induced crash, as a factor in the incident. This theory is based on the sequence of fuel cutoff switches and cockpit audio. Civil Aviation Minister Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu has cautioned against jumping to conclusions before the final report is released.

Bengaluru Murder Cases

Several murder cases have been reported in Bengaluru:

  • Woman Found in Garbage Truck: A woman named Asha was found dead, her body stuffed in a sack and dumped in a garbage truck. Investigations revealed that she was murdered by her live-in partner, Mohammed Shamshuddin, who has been arrested. The couple lived together in South Bengaluru and were in a relationship despite being married to other people.
  • Teenager's Murder: In another case, the Suryanagar police arrested seven individuals from Bihar in connection with the murder of an unidentified girl whose body was found in a suitcase near the Chandapur railway bridge. The deceased was identified as Reema Kumari, 17, who had been missing from her village in Bihar. The main accused, Ashik Kumar, allegedly abducted her, brought her to Bengaluru, and then strangled her.
  • Techie Kills Lover: A 33-year-old woman, Harini R, was found murdered in a hotel room in South Bengaluru. Police arrested Yashas, a 25-year-old BCA graduate, who confessed to stabbing her multiple times.
  • Woman Murdered at Home: A 40-year-old woman named Latha was found murdered at her house on Dargah Road in Cottonpet. She was strangled, and valuables were stolen. Police suspect that the assailant was known to the family, as there was no forced entry.

India vs. England Cricket

Day 3 of the third Test between India and England at Lord's concluded with both teams scoring identical first-innings scores of 387. KL Rahul scored a century for India, while Rishabh Pant and Ravindra Jadeja made significant contributions. England's innings was marked by Joe Root's century.

Tensions flared at the end of the day, with England openers Ben Duckett and Zak Crawley criticized for allegedly slowing the game. Crawley clashed with India captain Shubman Gill, resulting in heated exchanges.

Israel-Gaza/Iran Conflict

Recent Israeli strikes in Gaza have resulted in numerous casualties. Health officials reported that at least 72 people have been killed across Gaza since Friday night. Among the fatalities was a family of five, including three children, killed in an Israeli strike on a tent camp in Muwasi. The UN reported that 800 people have been killed in Gaza since May 27 while trying to get aid.

Tensions remain high, with reports of missiles launched from Iran towards Israeli territory. The IDF has instructed residents to stay in protected spaces. The United States has issued a Level 4 travel advisory for Israel, recommending "Do Not Travel". Hamas has stated its willingness to release 10 hostages amid ongoing ceasefire talks.
