Renuka Shahane, a prominent figure in both Hindi and Marathi cinema, has often voiced her opinions on socio-political issues. Recently, she made a statement regarding the ongoing discussions around language politics, particularly concerning Hindi and Marathi. While the specific quote in the title isn't available, her general stance and previous statements provide context.

Shahane has been a vocal advocate for respecting Marathi language and culture, especially within Maharashtra. In May 2024, during the Lok Sabha elections, she urged voters to not support candidates who disrespect the Marathi language or discriminate against Marathi speakers. She emphasized that she wasn't against any other language or religion but stood against those who belittled Marathi in its own state. This appeal came in response to instances where Marathi speakers were denied housing or faced discrimination in workplaces.

Her views aren't limited to language. Shahane has consistently spoken out against hate and discrimination. In 2017, she condemned the lynching of a teenager, asserting that she didn't care about the religions of either the victim or the perpetrators; her concern was the act of violence itself. She declared that she didn't want to be associated with hate and wanted her children to inherit a world free from it.

Shahane is also known for her balanced perspective and belief in individual choice. Addressing the debate around working mothers and the demand for eight-hour shifts in Bollywood, she stated in June 2025 that it's a matter of individual preference. She acknowledged that while some actors, both male and female, might prefer shorter hours to spend time with their families, many working mothers in the television industry work 18-hour shifts, managing their children on set. She believes that there shouldn't be a compulsion for shorter shifts, as some mothers might need or want to work longer hours.

Beyond her views on social issues, Shahane continues to be active in the entertainment industry. She was last seen in the Marathi film 'Devmanus'. Her upcoming projects include the comedy series "Dupahiya," set to release on Prime Video on March 7, 2025. She is also working on a black comedy directorial project, which she hopes will star her husband, Ashutosh Rana. This film will be about men, police, and politics.
