The Ministry of Agriculture is cautioning farmers to be wary of misinformation surrounding the 20th installment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme. While the exact date is yet to be officially announced, the installment is expected to be disbursed in July 2025.
The PM-KISAN scheme is a flagship initiative by the Government of India that aims to provide financial assistance to eligible farmers. Under this scheme, beneficiary farmers receive ₹6,000 annually, distributed in three equal installments of ₹2,000 every four months. This amount is directly credited to their Aadhaar-linked bank accounts through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system. The 19th installment was released on February 24, 2025, with over ₹22,000 crore transferred to the bank accounts of 9.8 crore eligible farmers.
To ensure a smooth and timely transfer of the 20th installment, the Ministry of Agriculture has advised farmers to update their essential details. These include completing their e-KYC, linking their Aadhaar with their bank account, verifying their bank details, and resolving any land record discrepancies. Farmers can complete their e-KYC by visiting the official PM-KISAN portal or by completing biometric e-KYC at their nearest Common Service Centre (CSC). It is crucial to ensure accurate bank details, including the account number, IFSC code, and Aadhaar link, and registration in the Farmer Registry. Failure to comply with these requirements may result in payment delays or rejection.
The PM Kisan Beneficiary List for each state and village has been released on the official website. Farmers can check their beneficiary status by visiting pmkisan.gov.in.
There have been reports that the 20th installment of the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Scheme was expected to be transferred to farmers' accounts in June 2025; however, it has been delayed. According to the latest announcements, Indian farmers are expected to receive the ₹2,000 installment in their bank accounts around July 19-20, 2025. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to formally release the installment during a mega event in Bihar on July 18.
In Uttar Pradesh, the state government has initiated measures to make the scheme more effective. Apart from financial assistance, farmers will also be able to get agricultural loans and technical assistance. The state government has set a target of giving Kisan Credit Cards to 2.5 lakh new farmers in the financial year 2025-26, in which beneficiaries will be given priority in this scheme. With this, they will get crop-based loans at low interest rates and will be linked to progress-focused agricultural technology, where information about various schemes will be provided.
