Experienced Lionesses forward Nikita Parris is poised for a move to London City Lionesses, joining the Women's Super League (WSL) newcomers after her contract with Brighton & Hove Albion expired. The 31-year-old Parris is expected to undergo a medical with the Michelle Kang-owned side.

Parris's departure from Brighton comes after she helped the team achieve their highest-ever WSL finish, placing fifth in the standings. During her time with the Seagulls, she scored seven goals in 22 league games. Brighton's head coach, Dario Vidosic, expressed gratitude for Parris's contributions, highlighting her vital role in the team's success, her professionalism, and her influential experience within the squad, particularly in guiding younger players. He also acknowledged her consistency and leadership in the final third.

Parris's move to London City Lionesses marks an exciting chapter for the newly-promoted team, who secured their place in the WSL after winning the Women's Championship. The Lionesses have been actively strengthening their squad ahead of their debut WSL season, with Parris set to be their latest addition. Other notable signings include Dutch midfielder Danielle van de Donk, who previously played for Lyon and Arsenal. The team has also added Sanni Franssi and Elene Lete from Real Sociedad, Isa Kardinaal from Ajax, Teyah Goldie from Arsenal (who spent last season on loan with London City), and Poppy Pattinson, also from Brighton.

Parris brings a wealth of experience to London City Lionesses, having played for several top clubs, including Everton, Manchester City, Lyon, Arsenal and Manchester United. She won the Champions League with Lyon in 2020 as part of a treble-winning campaign and secured a Women's Super League title with Manchester City in 2016. Additionally, she has won the FA Cup twice, with Manchester City in 2017 and Manchester United in 2024.

A Euro 2022 winner with England, Parris has earned 74 caps for the Lionesses, scoring 17 goals. Although she was omitted from Sarina Wiegman's squad for Euro 2025, Parris remains determined to contribute to the national team in the future. She expressed her disappointment at the decision but insisted that she had given her all and had no regrets.

In March, Parris reached a milestone by becoming only the fourth player to register 100 WSL goal involvements, with 67 goals and 33 assists. Only Vivianne Miedema, Beth Mead, and Bethany England have achieved more in the competition's history.

The upcoming 2025-26 WSL season is set to begin on the weekend of September 6th and 7th. London City Lionesses, under the ownership of Michelle Kang, have demonstrated their ambition by making significant investments in the squad. With the addition of Parris and other talented players, the Lionesses are well-positioned to compete against established teams in the WSL.
