Aishanya, the wife of Shubham Dwivedi, a victim of the Pahalgam terror attack that took place on April 22, 2025, has expressed her grief and frustration, emphasizing that sensitive matters like terrorism should not be politicized. Shubham, a 31-year-old businessman from Kanpur, was among the 26 people killed in the attack in the Baisaran Valley near Pahalgam.
Aishanya and Shubham were married on February 12, 2025, and were in Kashmir with nine other family members for a week-long holiday. The couple's trip, which included visits to Sonamarg and Gulmarg, took a tragic turn in Pahalgam. Aishanya recounted the horrific incident, stating that the terrorist approached them, asking if they were Hindu or Muslim and demanding that they recite a Kalma. According to Aishanya, when Shubham was unable to recite the Kalma, he was shot. "With a smile, we said 'we are Hindus' and he shot Shubham before we could finish the sentence," she said. She also added that the terrorist "checked" Shubham's body after shooting him.
In the aftermath of the attack, Aishanya has been vocal about her desire for justice and recognition for her husband. She appealed to the government to grant Shubham the status of a martyr, so that he is remembered. "I urge the govt to honour my husband with the martyr status," she stated. She also expressed concern that victims' families are often forgotten and want Shubham to be remembered.
Aishanya also shared her thoughts on the government's response to the attack, particularly "Operation Sindoor," launched by the Indian Armed Forces in retaliation. She thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for taking revenge for her husband's death. "My entire family had trust in him, and the way he replied (to Pakistan), he has kept our trust alive. This is the real tribute to my husband. Wherever my husband is, he will be at peace today," she said.
Aishanya's account highlights the brutality of the attack and raises questions about the motives and planning behind it. She noted that the gunfire lasted for 45 minutes, and no one came to help, suggesting that the terrorists knew they had time and wouldn't be stopped. She also claimed that the terrorists had হাই-টেক weapons and local contacts.
The incident has sparked widespread anger and grief, with many calling for swift action against those responsible. Aishanya's plea underscores the need for unity and sensitivity when dealing with such tragedies, emphasizing that politicizing these matters only adds to the pain and suffering of the victims and their families.
