The circumstances surrounding the death of Nitesh Singh, wife of Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Mukesh Singh, in Lucknow are under intense investigation, revealing a complex narrative of alleged marital discord, mental health struggles, and a disturbing incident involving her autistic son. Nitesh was found dead in her home, and initial reports suggest she died by suicide. However, the case has taken several twists with accusations against her husband and the emergence of CCTV footage.

Nitesh's brother, Pramod Kumar, has alleged that his sister was under immense mental stress due to constant harassment from her husband, Mukesh Singh. He further claimed that Mukesh was having an extramarital affair with a married woman, which led to frequent arguments between the couple. Pramod stated that Nitesh had caught Mukesh in an inappropriate conversation with the other woman, leading to a change in his behavior and increased cruelty towards his wife. He also alleged that Mukesh used to taunt Nitesh for giving birth to a child with autism, constantly reminding her of the lifelong care the child would require.

Adding another layer to the tragedy, CCTV footage from the couple's home has surfaced, showing Nitesh apparently attempting to harm her 12-year-old son, who suffers from autism. The footage purportedly captures Nitesh placing a pillow over her son's face and attempting to strangle him. The child, Aniket, is said to have resisted her attempts. This incident is believed to have occurred on July 29, following an argument between Nitesh and Mukesh.

ASP Mukesh Singh, currently posted with the Crime Branch CID, was not at home when Nitesh was found dead. He has stated that he had installed CCTV cameras in their home because Nitesh had been suffering from mental health issues and was under treatment. He claimed that upon seeing the footage of Nitesh attempting to harm their son, he confronted her, leading to an altercation. Nitesh was found dead the next evening. Mukesh has also stated that Nitesh was depressed about their son's disability and was receiving treatment for it. DCP Ashish Kumar Srivastava confirmed that Nitesh was battling depression and was undergoing treatment.

Authorities are investigating all angles of the case, including the allegations of harassment and the circumstances surrounding Nitesh's mental state. They are analyzing call records, WhatsApp chats, and CCTV footage to determine the factors that led to her death and whether any foul play was involved. Nitesh's body has been sent for post-mortem examination, and a forensic team has collected evidence from the scene. The investigation aims to determine whether the suicide was solely driven by personal distress or if other factors contributed to the tragic outcome.

Nitesh Singh was the daughter of former Firozabad MLA Rakesh Babu, who was an MLA from 2007 to 2017 and is now with the BJP. Mukesh Singh had been transferred from Bareilly to Lucknow three months prior to the incident. The couple reportedly had an argument on July 29, which allegedly led to Nitesh's depression and subsequent suicide on July 30.
