Tensions between India and Pakistan have escalated sharply, with a recent press briefing by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) highlighting Pakistan's military movements towards forward areas. According to Wing Commander Vyomika Singh, these troop movements indicate a potential offensive intent aimed at further escalating the ongoing conflict. The Indian armed forces, however, remain in a state of high operational readiness and have been responding "proportionately" to all hostile actions.

The MEA press briefing, which included Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, Colonel Sofiya Qureshi, and Air Force Wing Commander Vyomika Singh, addressed the situation at the India-Pakistan border, focusing on what has been termed "Operation Sindoor". This operation appears to be India's response to the escalating tensions and cross-border engagements.

In recent days, Pakistan has intensified its provocations, including the use of armed drones and other munitions along the western border. Colonel Sofiya Qureshi stated that the Pakistani army violated Indian airspace multiple times with the intention of targeting military infrastructure. She also noted the use of heavy-caliber weapons along the Line of Control (LoC). Reportedly, around 300 to 400 drones were used in attempts to infiltrate Indian territory at 36 locations, stretching from Leh to Sir Creek. Initial reports suggest that some of these drones were Turkish-made Asisguard Songar drones.

Wing Commander Vyomika Singh condemned Pakistan's actions, stating that India has responded with precision strikes targeting identified military targets. She also accused Pakistan of spreading misinformation, including false claims about the destruction of Indian air defense systems and airfields. Furthermore, Colonel Sofiya Qureshi accused Pakistan of targeting civilian infrastructure such as hospitals and schools, calling it an "irresponsible tendency of attacking civil infrastructure".

Adding to the complexity of the situation, Pakistan has also been accused of using a civilian airliner as a shield, potentially endangering international flights. In response to the heightened tensions, the Kartarpur Corridor has been shut down indefinitely.

The Indian armed forces have been actively countering these threats. Air defense systems have been used to shoot down Pakistani drones in Jammu & Kashmir, Punjab, and Rajasthan. The MEA reported that Indian forces have retaliated against Pakistani military infrastructure, including air defense systems.

India has asserted that its actions are measured and responsible, aimed at de-escalation, provided Pakistan reciprocates. However, with Pakistan's military moving troops to forward areas, the situation remains tense and the potential for further escalation is a significant concern.
