A 25-year-old law student, Vishal Bhardwaj, tragically died after falling from the Jambu Lochan Hostel at Jammu University on Tuesday night. Bhardwaj, a resident of Katra in the Reasi district and also known as Bunny, was a fifth-semester student in the Department of Law at the University of Jammu.

Fellow students discovered Bhardwaj unconscious on the rear side of the hostel shortly after his fall. He had appeared for his final examination earlier in the day. They immediately rushed him to the Government Medical College (GMC) Hospital in Jammu, where he was declared dead upon arrival.

Police have initiated inquest proceedings to determine the circumstances surrounding Bhardwaj's death. The postmortem examination was conducted at GMC Hospital on Wednesday, after which his body was handed over to his family.

In a separate incident, the body of an unidentified woman, approximately 35 years old, was found under suspicious circumstances near an irrigation canal in Kotli Charkan village in the Bishnah area of Jammu. The woman's body had a cut mark on the throat. Authorities have shifted the body to the sub-district hospital in Bishnah for identification and postmortem. Police are also investigating the cause of her death.
