The Meghalaya Police have made a significant arrest in connection with the murder of Indore businessman Raja Raghuvanshi, who was killed while on his honeymoon in Meghalaya in May. Lokendra Singh Tomar, the owner of the flat in Indore where the prime accused, Sonam Raghuvanshi, stayed after fleeing Meghalaya, has been apprehended.

Tomar, a resident of Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh, was arrested on Monday following a request from the Special Investigation Team (SIT) to the Gwalior Police. He is accused of being involved in the destruction and concealment of evidence related to the case. According to East Khasi Hills district Superintendent of Police V Syiem, Tomar is the landlord of the flat in Indore's Hirabagh locality, where Sonam Raghuvanshi sought refuge after the murder.

Police sources indicate that Tomar allegedly took a bag left behind by Sonam and attempted to destroy it and its contents. The bag purportedly contained a country-made pistol, Sonam's phone, Raja's jewelry, and approximately Rs five lakh in cash. It is believed that Tomar's actions were aimed at shielding Sonam and her accomplices.

The arrest of Lokendra Tomar brings the total number of individuals apprehended in connection with the Raja Raghuvanshi murder case to eight. This includes Sonam Raghuvanshi, her boyfriend Raj Kushwaha, and three alleged hitmen. The SIT has been actively investigating the case, and their efforts have led to multiple arrests in Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh.

Prior to Tomar's arrest, the SIT had already apprehended two individuals in Indore: property dealer Silome James and security guard Balveer Ahirwar. James is accused of arranging the flat for Sonam, while Ahirwar allegedly helped in destroying a black bag she left behind. It is reported that Ahirwar handed the bag over to James, who then burned it. Meghalaya Police are planning to conduct a forensic analysis of the remains to determine the contents of the bag.

The family of Raja Raghuvanshi is seeking a Narco Analysis test for Sonam Raghuvanshi and Raj Kushwah, as they believe that the exact motive behind the murder is still unclear. They have consulted advocates in Meghalaya and will soon file a petition with the Meghalaya High Court. The family also intends to request a court-monitored probe into the alleged business dealings between Sonam and Raj, which came to light through Sonam's brother, Govind.

The arrest of Lokendra Tomar marks a significant step forward in the investigation of the Raja Raghuvanshi murder case. The Meghalaya Police are continuing their efforts to uncover all the facts and bring all those involved to justice.
