Smriti Mandhana's maiden T20I century propelled India to a dominant 97-run victory over England in the first T20I at Trent Bridge, Nottingham. With this win, India leads the five-match series 1-0.

Mandhana's explosive innings of 112 runs off 62 balls, which is the highest score by an Indian woman in T20Is, set the foundation for India's commanding total of 210/5. She surpassed Harmanpreet Kaur's previous record of 103 runs.

India got off to a flying start, with Mandhana and Shafali Verma (20 off 22 balls) putting together a 77-run partnership in 8.3 overs. Even after Shafali's dismissal, Mandhana continued her onslaught, forging a 94-run stand with Harleen Deol, who contributed a quick-fire 43 off 23 balls. Deol was dropped on 26, but Mandhana received no such reprieves, as she punished the English bowlers, particularly the left-arm spinners, with a series of boundaries and sixes.

Mandhana reached her half-century in just 27 balls. She then accelerated, reaching her maiden T20I century in 51 balls. En route to her century, Mandhana showcased her full range of strokes, including three boundaries off Linsey Smith in the fourth over and two sixes off Sophie Ecclestone in the seventh over.

Lauren Bell was the most successful bowler for England, taking 3 wickets for 27 runs. She dismissed Richa Ghosh (12) and Jemimah Rodrigues (0) in the 18th over, but by then, India had already reached a formidable position. Ecclestone eventually dismissed Mandhana in the final over.

The Indian women's cricket team registered its highest total against England in T20 Internationals.

In response, England struggled to build partnerships and lost wickets at regular intervals. The Indian bowlers bowled with discipline and exploited the conditions effectively. Deepti Sharma, Radha Yadav, and Renuka Singh each took two wickets to restrict England to just 113 runs.

Smriti Mandhana was named Player of the Match for her outstanding century.
