The death of Nikki Bhati in Greater Noida is under intense scrutiny, with the presence of inflammable items in her room raising questions amid contradictory claims and allegations of dowry harassment. Nikki, 26, was allegedly set ablaze at her in-laws' house in Sirsa village on August 21. She sustained 70% burn injuries and died while being transported to a Delhi hospital.

Conflicting narratives surround the cause of the fire. Initially, Nikki's in-laws claimed she died due to a cylinder blast. However, police found flammable liquid and a lighter at the scene, with no evidence of an explosion. This discrepancy has led authorities to investigate who created the cylinder blast theory. Vipin's cousin, Devendra, also claimed that Nikki suffered burns from a cylinder blast in the kitchen.

Nikki's family alleges that she was murdered due to unmet dowry demands. They claim that Vipin Bhati, her husband, and his family had been harassing her for years, demanding a car and Rs 3.6 million in cash. Nikki's father is demanding the demolition of her in-laws' house. He accuses the family of obstructing Nikki's business aspirations and alleges that his daughter was set ablaze after dowry demands went unmet.

Adding another layer of complexity, authorities are also investigating Vipin's alleged extramarital affair. An FIR for assault had been filed against Vipin by another woman in October of the previous year. According to reports, Nikki and her sister Kanchan had caught Vipin with the other woman.

Police have arrested Vipin Bhati, his brother Rohit Bhati, and their parents in connection with the case. Vipin was shot in the leg during an alleged attempt to escape police custody. He is now in judicial custody.

Adding to the conflicting information, a CCTV footage has surfaced on social media, purportedly showing Vipin at a grocery shop outside his house around the time when Nikki was allegedly set on fire. The footage, time-stamped at 5:45 pm, is being verified by the police.

The case has drawn widespread attention and outrage. The National Commission for Women (NCW) has condemned the killing and is seeking swift action against the culprits. Disturbing visuals of Nikki being assaulted by Vipin and engulfed in flames have surfaced on social media.

Further investigation revealed that Nikki's desire to work and her social media presence were points of contention. Nikki's family alleged that Vipin and his kin opposed Nikki's desire to be on social media and reopen a parlour she used to run. Neighbors also claimed that Vipin often objected to the Instagram makeover reels posted by Nikki. According to them, the videos became a frequent source of tension between the couple.

Authorities are exploring all possibilities, including dowry harassment, domestic violence, and suicide. The investigation is ongoing.
