Sunny Leone recently shared her experiences with In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) and surrogacy on Soha Ali Khan's podcast "All About Her". The actress opened up about the emotional challenges she and her husband, Daniel Weber, faced while trying to expand their family.

Leone revealed that she and Weber had initially planned to have one child through surrogacy and then another naturally a few years later, balancing their careers with parenthood. However, after trying naturally for about 6-8 months without success, they began exploring various options, including IUI, IVF, and adoption.

The couple decided to freeze six embryos, four girls and two boys. "We had four girls and two boys. We always thought about having a girl first," she said. Unfortunately, the IVF attempts with the female embryos were unsuccessful. "That didn't work out, four girls went," Leone shared. This led to a switch in doctors, and the remaining two male embryos were used.

During this time, Leone and Weber also applied for adoption, understanding that the IVF and surrogacy process can be "disheartening when things don't go your way" and often lengthy. Leone candidly admitted that she "did not want to" carry a child.

The emotional toll of the failed IVF attempts was significant. Leone described the experience as "really heartbreaking," admitting that she felt like a "failure". "You feel so low and so upset about it,” she said. To cope, Leone and Weber provided each other with emotional support and initially kept their struggles private.

Simultaneously pursuing adoption, Leone and Weber were eventually matched with a little girl named Nisha. Leone recalled the serendipitous moment: "We applied for adoption, and the day of the IVF was the same day we got matched with a little girl". Despite this, they proceeded with transferring their last two embryos.

In a remarkable turn of events, Leone became pregnant with twins. "A week later, she was very pregnant with twins, those hCG levels were like off the chart multiplying, and Nisha was coming home in a few weeks,". The couple went from having no children to becoming parents of three almost overnight. In 2017, they adopted Nisha, and in 2018, their twin sons, Noah and Asher, were born via surrogacy.

Leone also addressed the financial aspects of surrogacy, revealing that they paid the surrogate mother a weekly fee and compensated her husband for taking time off work. Leone said, "We paid so much money that she bought a house and had a beautiful, large wedding".

Soha Ali Khan and Dr. Kiran Coelho joined Leone in highlighting the increasing number of options available for aspiring parents, emphasizing that IVF, surrogacy, and adoption are empowering choices. Leone's journey demonstrates that these options can be explored simultaneously or sequentially.
