Reliance Jio's Delhi-NCR Dominance Continues: Net Subscriber Additions Exceed 1.33 Lakh in July 2025, TRAI Data Shows

Reliance Jio has demonstrated a strong performance in the Delhi-NCR region, adding over 1.33 lakh new subscribers in July 2025, according to the latest data released by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI). This solidifies Jio's position as a key player in the Indian telecom market.

National Performance:

Nationally, Reliance Jio led in mobile subscriber additions, with 482,954 new users joining its network in July. Bharti Airtel closely followed, adding 464,437 subscribers during the same period. In contrast, Vodafone Idea experienced a loss of 359,199 subscribers, while BSNL saw a decrease of 100,707. MTNL, which provides services in Delhi and Mumbai, also experienced a decline, with its customer base reducing by 2,472.

As of the end of July 2025, Jio's total wireless subscriber base stood at 477.50 million, followed by Airtel at 391.47 million, Vodafone Idea at 203.85 million, and BSNL at 90.36 million.

Broadband Performance:

Airtel dominated broadband additions, gaining 2.75 million customers, ahead of Jio's 1.41 million. Vodafone Idea added approximately 0.18 million, while BSNL added 0.59 million subscribers. Jio's total broadband subscriber base reached 498.47 million, followed by Airtel at 307.07 million, Vodafone Idea at 127.58 million, and BSNL at 34.27 million.

5G Fixed Wireless Access (FWA):

The total number of 5G FWA subscribers increased from 7.85 million at the end of June 2025 to 8.40 million at the end of July 2025, with 5.02 million in urban areas and 3.38 million in rural areas. Jio holds the largest share with 6.4 million 5G FWA users, while Airtel has 1.9 million.

Wireline Performance:

In the wireline segment, Jio added 571,476 subscribers and held a 32.22% market share with 15,502,026 wireline subscribers. Airtel added 102,386 subscribers and had a 21.73% share with 10,456,623 subscribers. Vodafone Idea lost 14,502 subscribers and reported a 1.57% market share with 753,642 subscribers. BSNL lost 16,950 users and had a market share of 15.65% with 7,532,198 subscribers.

Overall Market Trends:

India's telecom sector added 1.66 million new subscribers in July, taking the total user base to 1.22 billion. Broadband subscribers in India reached 984.69 million. The urban subscriber base stood at 683.52 million (56.02%), while rural users made up 536.51 million (43.98%). Urban tele-density reached 134.07%, while rural areas lagged at 59.19%, highlighting the potential for growth in the rural market. There was also a significant increase in the number of users opting for Mobile Number Portability (MNP).

Jio IPO:

Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani announced that Jio's IPO is expected in the first half of 2026. The IPO could potentially be worth approximately 52,000 crore rupees.
