Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty, a devoted follower of Lord Ganesha, recently visited Mumbai's well-known Lalbaugcha Raja to offer prayers. This visit holds particular significance as it occurred after she had to forgo her usual grand Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations at home due to a bereavement in her family.

Shilpa Shetty is known for her enthusiastic participation in Ganesh Chaturthi festivities every year. She typically welcomes the Ganpati idol to her residence for one and a half days. However, this year, due to a period of mourning, she announced on social media that her family would be observing a 13-day mourning period, refraining from any religious activities. She requested understanding and prayers from her fans.

Despite not hosting the usual celebrations, Shilpa's visit to Lalbaugcha Raja demonstrates the deep connection she maintains with the festival and Lord Ganesha. Dressed in traditional attire, she was seen seeking blessings amidst the large crowd at the pandal. Her gesture was a quiet yet powerful symbol of hope and resilience during a difficult time. According to social media sources, she wore a vibrant saree paired with a designer blouse for her visit.

Lalbaugcha Raja is a highly revered Ganpati idol in Mumbai, with a history dating back to 1934. The Lalbaugcha Raja Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav Mandal, located at Putlabai Chawl, is in charge of the idol. The Kambli family has been taking care of the Lalbaugcha Raja Ganapati idol for over eight decades.

In previous years, Shilpa has been seen celebrating the festival with great enthusiasm, often accompanied by her husband, Raj Kundra, and her family. In 2024, she visited Lalbaugcha Raja with her husband Raj Kundra and mother Sunanda Shetty. They were welcomed by the puja committee members. The couple was also seen carrying a large modak, a sweet offering, to present to Lord Ganesha. The actress has been seen performing aarti, playing the drums, and dancing during the Ganpati visarjan ceremony.

Shilpa's choice to visit Lalbaugcha Raja, even during a period of mourning, highlights the importance of faith and tradition in finding comfort and strength. Her presence at the pandal served as a reminder that even in moments of loss, blessings endure.

On the professional front, Shilpa Shetty will be seen in the Kannada film KD: The Devil, releasing on September 4, 2025.
