Despite a public holiday declared in Mumbai on Monday, September 8, 2025, for Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi, the Indian stock market will remain open.
The Maharashtra state government announced the public holiday on Wednesday to maintain harmony with Anant Chaturdashi, which falls on September 6, when the immersion of Ganpati idols will occur. This announcement caused some confusion among stock market investors about whether the stock market would also be closed on Monday due to the Mumbai public holiday.
To clarify any doubts, investors and stock market observers are advised to consult the official BSE (Bombay Stock Exchange) website (bseindia.com) for the 2025 list of stock market holidays. The list specifies that the NSE (National Stock Exchange) and BSE will remain open on Monday, September 8, 2025.
According to the 2025 stock market holiday calendar, there will be no stock market holidays in September 2025. Trading activities at the NSE and BSE will continue as usual after the regular weekend.
The BSE trades from 9:15 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on weekdays. Pre-market open trading occurs between 9:00 a.m. and 9:15 a.m. Saturdays and Sundays are observed as BSE holidays. In 2025, there will be 14 non-trading holidays on the BSE and NSE.
