A newly purchased Mahindra Thar Roxx crashed through the glass wall of a showroom in Delhi's Nirman Vihar on Monday evening after the buyer, 29-year-old Maani Pawar, accidentally hit the accelerator. The SUV, which was positioned on the first floor for delivery, plunged to the pavement below.

Pawar and her husband, Pradeep, had just completed the purchase of the ₹27 lakh Thar and were performing a customary ritual to bless the new vehicle. This ritual involved squeezing a lemon under the car's tire. While attempting to perform the ritual, Pawar mistakenly pressed the accelerator instead of gently moving the car forward. The sudden acceleration caused the Thar to burst through the glass wall and fall to the ground.

The incident occurred at the Mahindra Shiva showroom around 5 pm. At the time of the accident, Pawar, her husband, and a showroom employee named Vikas were inside the vehicle. Vikas was explaining the car's features to the couple. Fortunately, no one sustained serious injuries. Pawar and Vikas were taken to Malik Hospital and discharged after receiving first aid. Police confirmed that no formal complaint has been filed.

Videos and photos of the overturned SUV and the damaged showroom quickly spread on social media. The Thar sustained dents and damage from the fall, and a motorcycle parked on the pavement below was also damaged. Authorities have made a DD entry and are investigating the incident. It remains unclear whether Pawar had a valid driver's license.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (East) Abhishek Dhania stated that the car was on the showroom's first floor with the owners and a showroom salesman inside. He added that the salesman was explaining the car's features when the woman accidentally started it. The vehicle then broke through the glass wall and fell onto the footpath.

The showroom staff confirmed the damage but declined to comment further.
