PM Modi hails Made-in-India weapons' pivotal role in safeguarding the nation during Operation Sindoor.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has lauded the critical role that "Made-in-India" weapons played in safeguarding the nation during the recently concluded 'Operation Sindoor'. Addressing gatherings in Aizawl, Mizoram, and Imphal, Manipur, the Prime Minister commended the Indian Armed Forces for their strength, commitment, and skill, while emphasizing India's growing self-reliance in defense manufacturing.

During his address in Aizawl, Modi stated that "During 'Operation Sindoor', our armed forces taught a lesson to those who sponsor terror. The entire world witnessed the strength of India's military and the power of 'Made-in-India' weapons". He underscored the importance of economic growth and the 'Make in India' initiative, not only for development but also for national security. He further added, "India is the fastest growing economy in the world. As we grow, so do our capabilities to defend our nation with indigenous technology".

In Imphal, at a public gathering at Kangla Fort, the Prime Minister paid tribute to Manipur's contributions to India's defense, acknowledging the numerous individuals from the state serving in the armed forces. He made special mention of Shaheed Deepak Chingkham, a BSF jawan from Imphal East, who lost his life during 'Operation Sindoor' due to injuries sustained from cross-border firing in the RS Pura sector of Jammu. Chingkham succumbed to his injuries on May 11 and was posthumously awarded the Vir Chakra on Independence Day. Squadron Leader Rizwan Malik, also from Imphal East, was also awarded the Vir Chakra for his role in the operation.

Modi emphasized that Shaheed Deepak Chingkham's bravery and sacrifice will always be remembered as it represents the indomitable spirit of Manipur.

'Operation Sindoor' showcased the strength and capability of the Indian armed forces. The Prime Minister highlighted that Manipur's brave sons and daughters played a vital role in India's success during the operation.

Furthermore, the Prime Minister also spoke on development projects in Manipur worth over Rs 1,200 crore, including the Civil Secretariat at Mantripukhri, the IT Special Economic Zone building, the new Manipur Police Headquarters, Manipur Bhawans in Delhi and Kolkata, and four Ima Markets in different districts. He stated that these projects would improve infrastructure, create jobs for youth, and support citizens in accessing services. He also mentioned the Manipur Urban Roads Project, with an investment of over Rs 3,600 crore, and ongoing efforts to extend connectivity to every village. The government is also taking measures to mitigate flood-related challenges and is working on housing for displaced families, announcing 7,000 new houses and a special package of around Rs 3,000 crore.

The Prime Minister has emphasized the need to maintain stability in Manipur and continue dialogue between the hills and valley regions. He also congratulated Sushila Ji on assuming office as the interim Prime Minister of Nepal.
