Fatima Sana Shaikh recently took to social media to share her experience of riding a Royal Enfield in Ladakh, describing it as "nerve-wracking". This comes after her role in the 2023 film "Dhak Dhak," where she was also seen riding a motorcycle.
The actress, who is a self-proclaimed bike lover, mentioned that it had been a while since she last rode a Royal Enfield. She shared her adventurous experience, detailing how she chased the sunset and ended up riding on dark roads. In her social media post, she wrote, “Back on the bike after ages! Last rode in the mountains during Dhak Dhak.. and had almost forgotten how peaceful it feels. Chased the sunset, missed it twice. Wapas mudte mudte raat ho gayi. And riding at night wasn't the smartest…especially jab tum confident rider na ho (jo main bilkul bhi nahi hun 😅).".
In "Dhak Dhak," Fatima Sana Shaikh played the character of Shashi Kumar Yadav, also known as "Sky," a YouTuber passionate about bikes and travel photography. The film revolved around four women from different backgrounds who embark on a motorcycle adventure to Khardung La, Ladakh, which is one of the world's highest motorable roads, on a journey of self-discovery. During the film, Shaikh rode a Royal Enfield Meteor 650 while her co-stars Dia Mirza, Ratna Pathak Shah, and Sanjana Sanghi rode a Royal Enfield Bullet, Classic 350 Desert Storm, and Himalayan adventure motorcycle, respectively.
Beyond "Dhak Dhak," Shaikh seems to have a personal connection with motorcycle riding and its symbolism of freedom. In an interview, she mentioned how motorcycling, especially for women, can be liberating, helping to break free from societal expectations. She stated that she has always lived on her own terms.
On the work front, Fatima Sana Shaikh is preparing for her upcoming release, "Gustaakh Ishq - Kuch Pehle Jaisa". The film is directed by Vibhu Puri and produced by Manish Malhotra under Stage5 Production. "Gustaakh Ishq - Kuch Pehle Jaisa" is described as a love story filled with passion and unspoken desire, set against the backdrop of Purani Dilli's lanes and the fading kothis of Punjab.
