On Wednesday, Union Home Minister Amit Shah inaugurated 17 development projects and schemes initiated by the Delhi government to commemorate Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 75th birthday. The launch occurred as part of the Delhi government's 15-day "Sewa Pakhwada" campaign, which extends until October 2, coinciding with Mahatma Gandhi's birth anniversary.

Chief Minister of Delhi, Rekha Gupta, lauded the central government's support, describing it as the "lifeline of the national capital". She acknowledged the Modi government's contributions to Delhi's connectivity and the rejuvenation of the Yamuna River. Gupta also highlighted the Centre's assistance during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The projects launched encompass a range of sectors, including healthcare, infrastructure, and social welfare. Key initiatives include:

  • Healthcare Enhancements: Inauguration of new hospital blocks, 101 Ayushman Arogya Mandirs (neighborhood clinics), and 150 dialysis centers.
  • Technology Integration: Deployment of 75 drones for policing purposes.
  • Waste Management: Laying the foundation stone for two waste-to-energy plants.
  • Social Welfare: Launch of the Atal Drishti Girls' Hostel for visually impaired students, the Atal Asha Home for intellectually disabled individuals, and the Savitribai Phule Senior Citizens' Home.
  • Infrastructure Development: Projects worth Rs 3,000 crore by the Delhi Jal Board (DJB) and Public Works Department (PWD), including multi-level car parkings, a foot overbridge near the Rajputana Rifles regiment base, and the Nand Nagari flyover.
  • Sanitation and Water Treatment: Projects such as the 564 MLD Okhla STP, Keshopur Ph-II & III STPs, and the rehabilitation of Kondli WWTP (Phases I, III) under the Yamuna Action Plan-III.

CM Gupta emphasized the significance of these projects in accelerating the city's progress and enhancing public convenience, with the aim of transforming Delhi into a "Viksit Delhi" (Developed Delhi). She also criticized previous governments while praising the current central government's support.

Other initiatives that will be launched during the "Sewa Pakhwada" include the Ring Road/Yamuna Swachhata Abhiyan, CM Shri Schools, a new MC Primary School at Prem Nagar, and a new block at Karampura Centre of BR Ambedkar University. A new fire station at Narela and the foundation of a Rs 65 crore grid station near Mandoli Jail are also planned. Additionally, the Delhi Drainage Master Plan, designed to tackle waterlogging and flooding, will be launched.

Several officials have noted that the celebrations for PM Modi's birthday commenced with a blood donation camp and the "Sewa Sankalp Walk" at Kartavya Path. An exhibition showcasing the central government's development initiatives in Delhi was also unveiled. Furthermore, CM Gupta launched a song titled "Namo Pragati Delhi - From Children's Voices to the Nation's Voice" to mark the Prime Minister's birthday. A musical program called 'Mera Desh Pahle-The Untold Story of Shri Narendra Modi', was held at IGI stadium.
