New York Rangers' Strong Offensive Showing Propels Them to Victory Over New Jersey Devils in Preseason Opener

The New York Rangers emerged victorious against the New Jersey Devils with a score of 5-3 in their preseason opener. The game, held at Prudential Center, saw the Rangers maintaining a lead throughout, with five different players contributing goals.

Gabe Perreault, the Rangers' first-round pick in the 2023 NHL Draft, initiated the scoring at 3:12 of the first period with a wrist shot. Casey Fitzgerald provided the assist. The Devils responded with a power-play goal by Brian Halonen at 10:55, tying the score 1-1. Jonathan Quick played for the Rangers in the first 22:42, conceding only one goal out of 13 shots.

The Rangers took control in the second period, scoring four goals. Dylan Roobroeck scored at 3:11, followed by goals from Conor Sheary and Scott Morrow. Paul Cotter of the Devils managed to score at 15:52, but Jonny Brodzinski quickly answered back for the Rangers, restoring their three-goal lead. Dylan Roobroeck also had an assist in the game.

In the latter part of the game, with 1:39 remaining, Arseny Gritsyuk scored a power-play goal for the Devils, reducing the deficit to 5-3. Dylan Garand played in goal after Quick and allowed two goals on 15 shots.

Eleven of the 18 Rangers skaters made it onto the scoresheet.
