ICC Women's World Cup 2025: Rising Stars Like Rawal & Voll Set to Shine in India

The ICC Women's World Cup 2025 is set to begin on September 30, 2025, and will be co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka. As the tournament approaches, here's a look at some of the top young talents who could make a significant impact: Pratika Rawal from India and Georgia Voll from Australia.

Pratika Rawal (India)

Pratika Rawal has quickly emerged as a batting sensation in Indian women's cricket. Making her international debut in December 2024, she has quickly become Smriti Mandhana's opening partner. In 14 matches, Rawal has scored 703 runs at an impressive average of 54.07, including five half-centuries and a century.

Born in Delhi on September 1, 2000, Rawal initially excelled in basketball, even winning a gold medal at the 64th School National Games in 2019. However, she later committed to cricket, starting her journey at the Rohtak Road Gymkhana Cricket Academy. Her father, Pradeep Rawal, is a BCCI-certified Level-II umpire, who introduced her to the game.

Rawal played domestic cricket for Delhi from 2021 to 2024 before switching to Railways. In January 2025, she scored her maiden ODI century against Ireland, with 154 runs off 129 balls. This innings was part of a 233-run opening stand with Smriti Mandhana, helping India reach their highest-ever ODI total of 435 for five. Mandhana has praised Rawal's calm demeanor and batting style, which she believes is well-suited for the ODI format. Rawal herself credits her background in psychology for helping her handle pressure in competitive situations. She holds a degree in Psychology.

Georgia Voll (Australia)

Georgia Voll is a versatile right-handed batter and occasional right-arm off-break bowler from Australia. Born on August 5, 2003, she plays for the Queensland Fire in the Women's National Cricket League (WNCL) and the Sydney Thunder in the Women's Big Bash League (WBBL).

Voll made her debut for Queensland in February 2020 and for the Brisbane Heat in the WBBL during the 2020-21 season. Identified early as a future Australian player, she signed with the Brisbane Heat at just 16 years old. Voll has also represented Queensland in under-18 rugby league.

In November 2024, Voll was selected for the Australian squad for the series against India. She made her ODI debut against India on December 5, 2024, and scored her maiden ODI century just three days later, compiling 101 off 87 balls. Months into her breakout season, she was awarded a central contract with the national side. She has played 3 ODI matches, scoring 173 runs at an average of 86.5 with a high score of 101.
