Delhi is on the verge of receiving its first official logo, a move that the government believes will provide the national capital with a distinct visual identity. The Delhi government launched a competition, tasking participants with creating a logo that embodies the city's rich history, diverse culture, ongoing development, and future aspirations.
The competition, which was organized by the General Administration Department of Delhi in collaboration with MyGov, sought creative ideas from citizens across India. The aim was to create a logo that serves as a visual symbol of Delhi's identity, reflecting its historical richness, cultural vibrancy, and progressive and inclusive ethos. The competition was open to all Indian citizens aged 16 years and above as of July 1, 2025.
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta emphasized that the chosen logo will represent a new identity for Delhi, reflecting modern, transparent, and citizen-focused governance. The broader objective of this initiative is to brand Delhi as a beacon of democratic values, technological advancement, and active citizen engagement.
The initiative garnered significant attention, with approximately 1,800 designs submitted through the MyGov portal. The competition closed on September 26, 2025. An expert committee, established by Chief Minister Gupta and chaired by the General Administration Department’s secretary, is now tasked with carefully reviewing and refining the submissions to create a shortlist. The committee includes members from academia and the department's joint secretary, who serves as the member secretary.
Participants were required to submit original, digitally created logo designs relevant to the theme. Submissions had to be uploaded in high-resolution format (JPEG/PNG/PDF/Drive Link). A concept note, explaining the idea and symbolism behind the design, was also required. The designs were required to be free of watermarks, signatures or any personal identification marks. The submitted design must be the original work of the participant and must not be generated using AI tools, copied, or plagiarized in any form.
The new logo is intended to capture the spirit of Delhi, highlighting the grandeur of its monuments, the dynamism of its people, and its commitment to unity in diversity. The Delhi government aims to create a brand that resonates with Delhi's pride and promise.
