A new flight service connecting Rajahmundry and Tirupati has been launched, promising to significantly reduce travel time between the two cities. Union Civil Aviation Minister, Rammohan Naidu, virtually inaugurated the Alliance Air service from New Delhi on Wednesday, in collaboration with MP Daggubati Purandeswari. Andhra Pradesh Tourism Minister Kandula Durgesh flagged off the first service from Rajahmundry's Madhurapudi Airport.
The Alliance Air flight will operate three days a week: Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday. The flight departs from Tirupati at 7:40 AM and arrives in Rajahmundry at 9:25 AM. The return flight leaves Rajahmundry at 9:50 AM, landing in Tirupati at 11:20 AM.
With the launch of this direct flight, travel time between Rajahmundry, the cultural capital of Andhra Pradesh, and Tirupati, its spiritual hub, will be significantly reduced. Previously, connecting flights could take anywhere from 3 hours 30 minutes to over 10 hours. While some sources mention a connecting flight time of 1 hour and 25 minutes, the direct flight is expected to greatly cut down on overall journey duration.
Speaking at the inauguration, Rammohan Naidu highlighted the high demand for air services from Rajahmundry to Delhi and Mumbai, noting their full occupancy rates. He described the new Rajahmundry-Tirupati flight as a gift to the people of the Godavari districts. He also mentioned that tickets for the inaugural flights sold out quickly. To address potential fare increases due to high demand, the minister stated that the first 35 seats would be priced at ₹1999, and the subsequent 35 seats at ₹4,000 for the first three months.
Naidu also addressed requests for flights from Rajahmundry to other destinations like Shirdi, Ahmedabad, Goa and Varanasi and said efforts would be made to launch these services. He also mentioned that a second air service to Bengaluru would be added soon. He also stated that the second terminal at Rajahmundry Airport is under construction and will be completed soon.
Tourism Minister Kandula Durgesh thanked Union Minister K Rammohan Naidu and MP D Purandeswari for realizing the long-pending dream of a direct flight service to Tirupati from Rajahmundry.
Alliance Air had announced the commencement of these flight services starting October 1, 2025. Rajamahendravaram MP D. Purandeswari had previously sought flight services between Rajamahendravaram and Tirupati.
