Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati has alleged that the recent Bihar Assembly elections were not conducted in a free and fair manner, suggesting that her party could have secured more seats if the electoral process had been impartial. In the aftermath of the Bihar elections, where the BSP won only one seat out of the 192 it contested, Mayawati has raised concerns about the integrity of the electoral process.
Mayawati congratulated party members for the victory of Satish Kumar Singh Yadav in the Ramgarh constituency. She expressed her gratitude to the party's workers and supporters for ensuring Yadav's win in the Ramgarh Assembly seat (Constituency 203) in the Kaimur district. She stated that despite administrative and opposition pressures, BSP workers thwarted attempts to undermine their success. She specifically accused the administration and opposition parties of colluding to defeat BSP candidates through recounting pressures.
In a social media post, Mayawati asserted that the BSP's dedicated efforts had thwarted a conspiracy to undermine their success, despite significant pressure from administrative entities and opposing parties. She criticized alleged vote manipulation and claimed that the party could have won more seats if the elections had been free and fair.
The Mahagathbandhan, despite its efforts, only secured 34 seats against the NDA's success. Other political developments in Bihar include Rajiv Pratap Rudy of the BJP stating that the "RJD is disintegrating, signs are not good" after Rohini Acharya's resignation from politics.
Mayawati's allegations come amidst other reports of political activity and commentary in the region. These include accusations against the BJP by the TMC of anti-tribal and anti-Bengali sentiments, and reactions to activists' suicides in Kerala.
