As 2025 draws to a close, Bollywood stars Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh are celebrating in New York City, with a special focus on Indian traditions and culinary delights. The couple's visit to Chef Vikas Khanna's acclaimed NYC restaurant, Bungalow, has turned into a heartwarming celebration of the year-end festivities and the success of Ranveer Singh's recent film, Dhurandhar.
Chef Vikas Khanna shared moments from Ranveer and Deepika's visit to Bungalow on Instagram. The celebrations included Deepika Padukone trying her hand at making modaks for the first time. Modaks are traditional Indian sweet dumplings often offered to Lord Ganesha, symbolizing auspicious beginnings, prosperity, wisdom, and blessings.
In a video shared by Khanna, Deepika is seen carefully shaping the modak while Ranveer watches attentively. Khanna then fed the freshly prepared sweets to the couple. The restaurant is also offering pomegranate and cardamom modaks to all guests as an auspicious welcome to 2026. Pomegranate, according to Khanna, is considered sacred in many cultures for health and wellbeing. He also shared that he was standing in front of his parents' wedding picture while creating the modaks from molds he had just received from the Siddhivinayak Temple.
Ranveer Singh is currently enjoying the success of his film Dhurandhar, which was released on December 5th and has grossed Rs 1,128 crore at the global box office. The film has become the highest-grossing Bollywood film of all time in India. Khanna's Instagram post read, "Celebrating DHURANDHAR — standing taller than any film in the world". The restaurant played the title track of Dhurandhar in the background during the visit.
Fans have also spotted Ranveer and Deepika in New York, with some sharing photos on social media. One fan described Ranveer as a "gem of a person". Deepika was also seen with Ranveer's sister, Ritika Bhavnani.
Looking ahead, Dhurandhar 2 is slated for release on March 19, 2026. Deepika is also set to appear in the film King alongside Shah Rukh Khan. Vikas Khanna will be returning as a judge for MasterChef India Season 5.
