Speaking at the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh's (RSS) annual Vijayadashmi rally on Thursday, October 2, 2025, RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat stated that the global response to the Pahalgam terror attack revealed India's true friends. The rally also commemorated the centenary of the organization. The RSS was founded on Dussehra (September 27) in 1925 in Nagpur by Keshav Baliram Hedgewar.
Bhagwat addressed the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, where terrorists killed 26 Indians after checking their religion. He said that the attack caused immense pain and anger throughout the country. He stated that the government and armed forces responded appropriately, and the country presented an ideal atmosphere with dedication, valor and unity. He praised the government's dedication, the armed forces' valor, and the unity within Indian society in response to the attack.
Bhagwat emphasized the importance of national security, stating that India needs to be more careful, watchful, and stronger, even while maintaining friendly relations with other countries. He noted that the positions taken by various countries after the Pahalgam attack revealed the nature and extent of their friendship with India.
Bhagwat also addressed the issue of extremist elements within the country, stating that they have faced action from the government and have been distanced by society. He asserted that these elements will be controlled and that a major hurdle has been removed in that area. He added that the lack of schemes ensuring justice, development, goodwill, sensitivity and strength often leads to the rise of extremist forces and to prevent this, the state and society must work together through initiatives that give people faith in the system.
Bhagwat also stated that non-violence is India's religion, but so is teaching a lesson to oppressors and hooligans. He referenced the Pahalgam attack, stating that Hindus would never kill people by asking about their religion and that is why the country should be strong. He used the example of Ravan, stating that Ravan was killed not to harm him but for his own good.
