Prime Minister Narendra Modi has lauded Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat's centenary address, calling it an "inspiring" speech that highlights the organization's contributions to nation-building. Bhagwat's address, delivered on the occasion of Vijayadashami and the RSS's centenary celebrations in Nagpur, emphasized India's potential and the importance of unity, self-reliance, and adherence to civic duties.

PM Modi conveyed his appreciation on X, stating that Bhagwat's address underscored the RSS's significant contributions to nation-building and highlighted India's inherent potential to achieve new heights, benefiting the entire world. Modi also released a commemorative postage stamp and coin to mark the RSS's 100-year journey.

Bhagwat's speech presented the RSS's vision and goals for shaping the nation's character, urging society to cultivate "role models" who can inspire fellow citizens to contribute to India's progress. He stressed the need to strengthen both individual and national character for India to emerge as a superpower.

Bhagwat elaborated on the role of RSS shakhas in instilling national identity and pride through daily programs that promote values and discipline. He said that during its centenary year, the RSS aims to expand its work of character building across the country through the 'Panch Parivartan' initiative. These values encompass social harmony, preservation of family values, environmental protection, self-reliance, and adherence to legal and constitutional duties.

Bhagwat voiced concerns about instability in neighboring countries, citing regime changes driven by public discontent in Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Nepal. He cautioned that these developments necessitate vigilance and introspection within India. He also touched upon international relations, advocating for self-reliance and cautioning against dependence on the global economic system, particularly in light of changing tariff policies. He urged the country to adopt an indigenous approach while maintaining diplomatic and economic relations.

The RSS, founded in 1925 by Dr. Keshav Baliram Hedgewar, is celebrating its centenary year. Dattatreya Hosabale, the General Secretary of the RSS, noted that the organization has become the world's largest voluntary organization due to people's acceptance and support. He acknowledged the challenges and opposition the RSS has faced throughout its history but emphasized the unwavering dedication of its volunteers to nation-building through character development.

The RSS aims to strengthen the nation's cultural roots, educate the youth about their responsibilities, eradicate social evils, foster unity, promote self-reliance through indigenous innovations, and enhance India's global image as a cultural superpower. The organization's influence extends beyond India, with a presence in prestigious global institutions and activities carried out through the Hindu Swayamsevak Sangh (HSS).

The RSS operates a vast socio-cultural network, including numerous branches (shakhas), volunteers, educational institutions, and affiliated organizations. It emphasizes instilling pride in Indian culture and heritage, promoting tolerance, inclusivity, and respect for all religions. The organization has implemented developmental projects, promoted education, and fostered economic growth.

PM Modi has acknowledged the RSS's grand objective of nation-building and its focus on individual development as the foundation for national progress. He highlighted the RSS's emphasis on social harmony, encapsulated in the vision of "one well, one temple, and one cremation ground," promoting a society free of discrimination. Modi affirmed the Sangh's role in promoting an inclusive society. He also acknowledged the organization's commitment to ensuring that every citizen is treated with dignity and respect.

As the RSS approaches its centenary, its focus remains on strengthening the nation’s cultural roots, educating the youth about their responsibilities, eradicating social evils and fostering unity, promoting self-reliance through indigenous innovations, and enhancing India’s global image as a cultural superpower.
