Sharvari Commences Filming Imtiaz Ali's Project, Expressing Excitement About Collaboration with Vedang Raina.

Sharvari Wagh has commenced shooting for Imtiaz Ali's upcoming film, which also stars Vedang Raina and Diljit Dosanjh. The actress has expressed her excitement about working with Imtiaz Ali, calling the film "very special".

The film is a period drama set against the backdrop of India's Partition in the 1940s. It will explore the theme of love amidst the chaos and heartbreak of that era, seen through the eyes of two lovers played by Sharvari and Vedang. The movie will trace the after-effects of the Partition and the accompanying migration. While the film will be set during the Partition, it will not depict Pakistan directly, instead making passing references to it.

Sharvari has stated that being directed by Imtiaz Ali is a dream come true. She mentioned manifesting this opportunity since she first dreamt of becoming an actor and feels honored to be part of his vision. She anticipates that this project will be an amazing learning experience for her.

Imtiaz Ali wanted to cast a talented actress for the lead role, and Sharvari fit the bill. Industry insiders believe Sharvari has the potential to achieve significant success. Sources indicate that Sharvari will be the only female lead in the film, sharing screen space with Vedang Raina in what is described as a soul-touching romantic film. The film is said to present a different take on romance compared to Imtiaz Ali's previous works.

The film also stars Naseeruddin Shah in a key role. Pre-production work has already commenced, with Sharvari and Vedang Raina undergoing look tests. Sheetal Sharma, who previously worked on Imtiaz Ali's "Amar Singh Chamkila", has been enlisted as the designer for this period drama.

Imtiaz Ali described the film as having "a big heart" and a "large canvas, yet is very personal". He also added, "It is a story of a boy and a girl, but also of a country".

The film will also reunite Imtiaz Ali with A.R. Rahman and Irshad Kamil, the composer and lyricist duo who have created memorable music for his films like "Rockstar", "Tamasha", and "Amar Singh Chamkila".

Filming is expected to have begun in August 2025, and the movie is slated for release in April 2026, coinciding with Baisakhi. The film is described as a charming tale of love and longing.
