Haryana Police have arrested YouTuber Wasim Akram from Palwal on charges of spying for Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) and the Pakistan High Commission. Akram, a resident of Kot village in the Palwal district, was taken into custody on Wednesday.

According to officials, Akram, who posted videos about the history of Mewat on YouTube, had been in contact with Pakistani agents for the past three years. Police allege that he provided SIM cards to these agents. SP Varun Singla has directed the Palwal crime branch and other relevant authorities to conduct a thorough investigation into the case. The Intelligence Bureau is also coordinating with the police. Authorities have indicated that more arrests are expected in the coming days.

The arrest came days after Palwal police detained Taufiq, another Pakistani spy, on September 26. During interrogation, Taufiq revealed Akram's name and his connections with Pakistani intelligence. Police said Taufiq had been sending sensitive information to Pakistan since 2022. “Both the accused were in touch with the Pakistan High Commission and ISI. Crime branch teams are questioning them after taking them on police remand,” SP Singla said.

Police discovered multiple incriminating WhatsApp chats on Akram's phone, including some deleted messages. The cyber cell is working to recover the deleted messages.

In 2021, Akram reportedly came into contact with a Pakistani agent named Danish while applying for a visa to Pakistan. Although Akram's family denied that he traveled to Pakistan, police said that several facts emerged during his interrogation that point to cross-border links. According to police, Akram and Taufiq communicated with the ISI and the Pakistan High Commission via internet calls.

In May 2025, Jyoti Malhotra, another YouTuber, was arrested by Hisar police on similar charges of sharing sensitive information with Pakistani intelligence operatives during her visits to Pakistan.
