Kim Kardashian and Kris Jenner have filed a defamation lawsuit against Ray J, whose real name is William Ray Norwood Jr., over claims he made alleging they are subjects of a federal criminal racketeering investigation. The lawsuit was filed on Wednesday in Los Angeles County Superior Court.
The complaint stems from comments Ray J made in a TMZ documentary and on a Twitch livestream, where he suggested the mother-daughter duo were involved in a RICO (Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act) case. The RICO Act is a federal law typically used to prosecute organized crime. Kardashian and Jenner assert that Ray J's allegations are baseless.
In May 2025, Ray J appeared in the Tubi documentary TMZ Presents: United States v. Sean Combs: Inside the Diddy Trial and stated, "If you told me the Kardashians were being charged for racketeering, I might believe it". He further claimed during a September 24 livestream that a federal racketeering investigation had been launched into the Kardashians, telling "millions of social media followers" that "The federal RICO I'm about to drop on Kris and Kim is about to be crazy... the feds is coming... It's worse than Diddy".
The lawsuit accuses Ray J of a "sustained campaign of harassment and defamation" against Kardashian and Jenner, spanning over two decades. The filing claims that Ray J is "unable to accept the end of his fleeting relationship" with Kardashian from over 20 years ago and has "repeatedly sought to attach himself" to their names to "exploit their prominence for personal gain". Kardashian and Jenner's attorney, Alex Spiro, stated that this is the first time either woman has filed a defamation suit, emphasizing that "this false and serious allegation left no choice". Spiro added that the allegations are "false and serious". The suit states that Ray J "provided no evidence whatsoever" for his accusations, branding them as "blatantly false" and "calculated falsehoods".
Kardashian and Jenner are seeking actual and punitive damages for the harm to their personal and professional reputations. The lawsuit states, "No such federal investigation exists; no law enforcement agency has initiated any criminal proceedings or investigations related to racketeering charges against Ms. Kardashian or Ms. Jenner; and no credible evidence whatsoever supports these inflammatory allegations".
Ray J has responded to the lawsuit, declaring, "I will not be silenced!". He further stated in a video livestream, "They will not silence me! I cannot be silenced… These MFs think they can silence us?". He also posted on social media, "The rain is coming," after the lawsuit was filed.
