A disturbing incident in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, has come to light where a man was gunned down by his friend, with the gruesome act captured on video and subsequently uploaded online. The 11-second video shows the victim, identified as 25-year-old Adil alias Rehan, being shot three times in the chest at close range. The chilling footage has sparked outrage and panic, prompting a swift police investigation.
According to reports, the incident occurred on Wednesday in Lohia Nagar. Adil was allegedly lured to a forest area in Narhada village by two acquaintances. Preliminary investigations suggest that Adil was first rendered unconscious before being shot multiple times. The video shows Adil lying on the ground as his friend fires three bullets into his chest in quick succession. Shockingly, another accomplice recorded the entire act. A voice can be heard in the background saying, "Drop it".
The video quickly went viral, raising serious concerns about law and order in the city. Police have confirmed that Adil was the man in the video and that his body was found near a tubewell. Authorities are investigating whether Adil was already dead or unconscious when the video was recorded.
Police have registered a case and detained four individuals in connection with the murder. Six accused are named in the case filed by Adil's family. SP (City) Ayush Vikram Singh stated that investigative teams have been deployed to identify and apprehend the assailants caught on camera, assuring that the case is being treated as a priority. The motive for the murder remains unknown. Meerut SSP Dr. Vipin Tada said that they are probing the reasons behind the murder and why the accused chose to make the video viral.
The SSP also noted that the deliberate filming and circulation of the act raise concerns that organized gangs may be behind such attempts to openly challenge the police. Authorities believe this is the first case in Meerut where a murder was filmed and deliberately made viral in an apparent attempt to create panic. On the same day, two more murders were reported in different parts of Meerut.
