The marital discord between Bhojpuri actor and singer Pawan Singh and his wife, Jyoti Singh, has escalated into a public controversy, marked by accusations and counter-accusations from both parties. The dispute, which has been ongoing for several years and includes a pending divorce case, took a dramatic turn with Jyoti Singh's recent allegations of mistreatment, including claims of being forced to take abortion pills.
Jyoti Singh, in a press conference held on October 8, 2025, made serious allegations against her husband. She claimed that Pawan Singh repeatedly gave her abortion pills against her will. "He says he yearned for a child, but someone who truly wants a child doesn't give his wife medication," she stated, expressing her distress. She further alleged that when she objected to taking the pills, she was subjected to severe torture, leading her to consume 25 sleeping pills in a suicide attempt. Jyoti claimed that Pawan Singh's brother, Ranu, along with Deepak from his team, and an associate named Vicky, intervened and rushed her to Bellevue Multispeciality Hospital in Andheri, Mumbai, where she received treatment.
Responding to these allegations, Pawan Singh held his own press conference on the same day, denying all the accusations. He claimed that Jyoti's actions were politically motivated, suggesting that she was trying to create trouble for him, especially after his meetings with BJP leaders regarding the upcoming Bihar elections. Pawan Singh, who has been involved in strengthening the NDA for the polls, stated, "Why did you (wife Jyoti Singh) show affection only today? ... What kind of affection is this? We can only call it politics that you want to trouble me".
Pawan Singh also addressed an incident where Jyoti Singh visited his residence in Lucknow. According to him, Jyoti had posted on Instagram about her intention to meet him, and he had informed the authorities. He stated that they met at his flat, accompanied by their respective family members. Pawan Singh claimed that Jyoti insisted on staying until their divorce case was resolved, a proposition he found untenable. He also refuted claims that he had called the police, stating that they were present to maintain law and order.
Prior to the press conferences, the situation escalated when Jyoti Singh was seen outside Pawan Singh's Lucknow residence, alleging that police had prevented her from entering and that her husband had filed an FIR against her. Police clarified that no FIR had been filed at that time, but she had been summoned for questioning as part of ongoing legal proceedings. Visibly upset, Jyoti accused her husband of infidelity and threatened self-harm, demanding justice amidst their ongoing legal and marital disputes.
The couple's divorce case has been ongoing for 3-4 years, with both parties filing legal cases against each other. Jyoti Singh has filed a maintenance case in Ballia, while Pawan Singh's divorce case is proceeding in Arrah. In a previous hearing, Jyoti had reportedly asked for Rs 5 crore in alimony, while Pawan Singh offered Rs 1 crore.
Pawan Singh's personal life has been under scrutiny in the past. He married Jyoti Singh in 2018 after the death of his first wife, Neelam Singh, who committed suicide in 2015. The current controversy continues to draw widespread attention, with both parties remaining firm in their statements as the legal proceedings unfold.
