Anya Singh, known for her role as Sanya in the Netflix series "The Ba***ds of Bollywood," has shared insights into her experiences on set, particularly highlighting her interaction with Ranbir Kapoor and the directorial style of Aryan Khan.
Singh described her initial nervousness about sharing a scene with Kapoor, acknowledging him as a "legend" alongside Karan Johar. However, she noted that Kapoor's "super chill" and professional demeanor quickly put her at ease. "Pata hi nahi chala when they came, and we shot; it was a breeze shooting with them," Singh said, emphasizing the effortless nature of the collaboration. She also mentioned that both Kapoor and Johar were very easy to work with, conversational, warm, and without any airs about themselves.
In various interviews, Singh has consistently praised Aryan Khan's direction in "The Ba***ds of Bollywood". She highlighted Khan's "unique clarity of thought and a very contemporary way of looking at storytelling". Singh also noted that Khan fostered a collaborative and respectful environment on set. "Nobody has ever raised their voice… It was young. It was fun. People were free to do what they wanted to… Very welcoming set," she shared, emphasizing the positive atmosphere that allowed actors to freely experiment and contribute ideas. She also praised Khan's courage in sticking to his vision, even when facing potential criticism. According to Singh, Khan was focused and dedicated, working tirelessly throughout the project.
Singh also addressed rumors that Aryan Khan didn't direct "The Ba***ds of Bollywood" himself, dismissing them as attempts to undermine his achievement. "I feel people just want an opportunity to bring another person down," she stated, affirming that Khan deserves the praise he has received. She further emphasized that Khan made a brave choice by working with a team of young writers and DOPs, and that he stood by his vision throughout the process.
Singh also spoke about Shah Rukh Khan's involvement in the project as a producer, clarifying that he respected Aryan's role as director and did not interfere with the filming process. "He gave Aryan that space and respect as a director," Singh explained, adding that Shah Rukh Khan only offered advice during the writing process but never intervened during filming.
