LIV Golf's Ambitious Growth Plans: Anirban Lahiri Discusses Expansion at DP World India Championship.

LIV Golf is reportedly considering a significant expansion, according to recent statements made by Anirban Lahiri at the DP World India Championship. While competing in the DP World Tour event, Lahiri, a LIV Golf player, offered insights into the Saudi-backed league's future plans.

LIV Golf is gearing up for an ambitious 2025 season, marked by strategic global events. The league will begin its season in February with LIV Golf Riyadh, debuting in Saudi Arabia's capital. Following Riyadh, LIV Golf will return to The Grange Golf Club for LIV Golf Adelaide. Further into the season, LIV Golf will make its first trip to South Korea, with LIV Golf Korea scheduled for May 2-4 at Jack Nicklaus Golf Club Korea.

Commissioner and CEO of LIV Golf, Greg Norman, stated that the league is growing across the globe in both new and returning markets. The 2025 schedule is a testament to that growth. Ten events have been confirmed for the upcoming year, with more announcements expected. LIV Golf is planning to release another portion of its 2025 calendar soon. The 2025 LIV Golf schedule features 14 events across nine countries, with six of those events being held in the United States.

In the U.S., LIV will play in Chicago and Dallas. Maridoe Golf Club in Texas, which hosted LIV's team championship site in September 2024, is being planned for June 2025. An event at an undisclosed course near Indianapolis is also planned, marking a new U.S. state for the league. However, LIV is not expected to return to Las Vegas or The Greenbrier in West Virginia. Other U.S. destinations include Miami, Washington D.C., and Plymouth, Michigan. The team championship will be held in August in Michigan.

Internationally, LIV Golf is expected to include stops in Spain at Valderrama and another U.K. tournament, both of which were on the 2024 schedule. The 2025 season will include new stops in South Korea, Singapore, Hong Kong and Spain. The season will open in Riyadh with the tour’s first-ever tournament played under lights.

These expansion plans occur as LIV Golf continues negotiations for a potential agreement with the PGA and DP World Tours. Despite the ongoing discussions, LIV Golf is moving forward with its vision for the future, including new venues, player acquisitions, and team developments.

Anirban Lahiri, currently competing at the DP World India Championship, brings a unique perspective as a LIV Golf player with experience on other major tours. Lahiri has had a solid year, with three top-10 finishes in 15 starts. He began 2025 with a 10th-place finish in the International Series – India and followed it up with a 7th-place finish at LIV Adelaide. He also finished second at LIV Virginia in June. Lahiri also won the Indian Open in 2015.

Rory McIlroy, Tommy Fleetwood, Shane Lowry, and Viktor Hovland are also competing in the DP World India Championship.
