Spears' team issued a statement expressing her concerns, highlighting the timing of the book's release after child support payments had ended. The statement implies that Federline is trying to profit from their past relationship, especially after Spears fulfilled her financial obligations to their children. Spears' representatives stated that she is primarily concerned about the well-being of her sons, Sean Preston and Jayden James, amidst the media attention surrounding the memoir.

In the memoir, Federline makes alarming claims about Spears' behavior, alleging that her "situation" is "racing toward something irreversible". He recounts an incident where their sons allegedly found Spears "standing at their doorway holding a knife". Federline reportedly expresses his fears that "something bad is going to happen if things don't change, and my biggest fear is that our sons will be left holding the pieces".

Spears, 43, seemingly responded to Federline's announcement of the memoir with a cryptic Instagram post, hinting at betrayal by those closest to her. She wrote, "But let me tell you guys a secret… to those who are listening, because believe it or not, those closest to you sometimes will be the main ones to do whatever they can to stop you from having the life you deserve, even lie to you". She added, "If I told you guys you wouldn't believe me and it's not something I ever want to share… But until then, it sounds cheesy, but keep your head held high!!!".

Federline, 47, claims the memoir will detail the "heartbreak" and "ridicule" he endured during their relationship. He stated, "I achieved my biggest dreams, dealt with crushing heartbreak and endured constant ridicule, all while becoming the father my children needed as they experienced nonstop emotional turbulence". He also teased that the book would provide answers to long-standing questions about their relationship.

Sources claim Spears is worried about the memoir and is ready to "come out swinging" if Federline's account is too personal or misrepresents events. She is reportedly eager to obtain a copy of the book to assess the potential damage. Some speculate that Spears has been "beside herself" since the announcement of the book.
