Shahid Kapoor is brimming with pride for his younger brother, Ishaan Khatter, as the latter garners acclaim for his performance in the recently released film, "Homebound". The heartwarming film has also been selected as India's official entry for the Best International Feature Film category at the 2026 Academy Awards.
Kapoor took to Instagram to express his admiration for Khatter, sharing a black and white photo of the two brothers embracing. In a heartfelt note accompanying the picture, Kapoor wrote, "This boy is an artist that's homebound. @ishaankhatter am so proud of you". He continued, "It's a joy to see you come into your own as an actor and express your inner self with honestly and commitment. You are going from strength to strength and I can't tell you how proud I feel".
Concluding his message with encouragement, Kapoor added, "You go get em boy. Show them what you got. Always your proudest cheerleader".
Mira Rajput Kapoor, Shahid's wife and Ishaan's sister-in-law, also lauded Ishaan's performance in "Homebound". In a touching social media post, she confessed that she struggled to articulate the depth of her emotions after watching the film. She wrote, "Few movies touch you in a way where silence is the loudest applause and tears are the honest review". Mira praised Ishaan, saying, "Ishaan, you have filled our hearts with pride. Fly with your magic and touch the world with your gift".
"Homebound," directed by Neeraj Ghaywan, has been receiving praise from critics and audiences alike, despite its underperformance at the box office. The film revolves around two childhood friends from a North Indian village who aspire to become police officers, believing it will bring them the respect they desire.
In the past, Ishaan has spoken about his relationship with his brother Shahid, acknowledging Shahid's established status in the industry. "I don't have any complexes if people compare me to my brother," Ishaan stated in an interview with Zoom in May 2025. "It's natural because we are brothers and he started 15 years before and he is a bona fide star and a bonified artist and actor. I have grown up loving and idolising him". He also emphasized his individuality, adding, "I have always been my own person and my own artist and he respects that and I respect that".
Ishaan revealed a piece of advice he received from Shahid: "Be the sun, be the source yourself. Don't try to find the light that's shining off of somebody else. Just be your person and trust what you are bringing to the table". Ishaan is currently enjoying the positive reception of his recent Netflix series, "The Royals," where he stars alongside Bhumi Pednekar. He plays Prince Aviraaj Singh in the series. In September 2024, Ishaan mentioned that Shahid was surprised by his accent in "The Perfect Couple".
