Punjabi actor and singer Diljit Dosanjh has confirmed that he recently shot for an episode of Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC) 17, hosted by Amitabh Bachchan. While the makers of the show have yet to announce Dosanjh's appearance, the actor himself revealed the news in a video shared a couple of days ago.
Recently, Dosanjh interacted with fans on X (formerly known as Twitter), answering questions about his music and albums. When one fan inquired about his experience on KBC, the singer-actor mentioned that he participated for a noble cause: to support Punjab flood relief efforts. Dosanjh stated that the winnings from the show will be donated to flood-affected families in Punjab. When host Amitabh Bachchan asked about being on the show, Dosanjh responded, "It's all for Punjab flood relief".
The 2025 monsoon season brought unprecedented flooding to several regions of Punjab, displacing thousands and causing widespread damage. Relief and rehabilitation efforts are ongoing, and Dosanjh's contribution is expected to significantly support local NGOs and grassroots organizations working on the ground. He has also adopted 10 of the worst-hit villages in Gurdaspur and Amritsar to support relief efforts. Last month, his team said they were focusing on essential items like food, water and medical assistance, and also planning for long-term rehabilitation and reconstruction. 1,655 villages have been affected by the floods, with Gurdaspur being the most impacted area. Approximately 175,216 hectares of crop land have also been affected.
Although the exact amount won by Dosanjh on KBC has not been officially disclosed, sources suggest it was a "significant" donation. The episode, which is expected to air later this month, will feature Dosanjh's trademark humor and charm.
Dosanjh has been demonstrating his support for the affected families in Punjab. He previously shared a video expressing solidarity and concern for the people of the state, assuring them that "we all stand" with them. News of Dosanjh's gesture has been met with appreciation on social media, with fans and fellow celebrities praising his commitment to his roots. He is known for his down-to-earth persona and connection to his homeland, and has spoken about environmental and agricultural issues affecting Punjab.
In other news, Dosanjh recently released his new song "Kufar" with Manushi Chhillar on October 15. He will also appear in Border 2 alongside Varun Dhawan and Ahaan Shetty.
Amitabh Bachchan commenced shooting for the 17th season of Kaun Banega Crorepati in August. The new season includes new contestants, challenging questions, and surprises to celebrate the show's 25-year journey. KBC 17 premiered on August 11 and airs Monday to Friday on Sony Entertainment Television and SonyLIV.
