Deepika Padukone lends her voice to Meta AI, becoming the English interface across six countries.

In a groundbreaking collaboration, Bollywood star Deepika Padukone has become the new English voice of Meta AI across six countries. This announcement, made via Padukone's Instagram account, marks a significant moment as she becomes the first Indian celebrity to lend her voice to Meta's AI assistant.

Padukone's voice will be available in English across India, the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, and New Zealand. In a video shared on social media, the actress expressed her excitement, inviting users to "chat with my voice" and share their feedback.

This collaboration coincides with Meta's rollout of new AI-powered features for Ray-Ban Meta glasses in India. These updates aim to enhance the user experience by making the glasses more localized, intuitive, and fun. Meta AI can now respond out loud to users through their glasses or the Meta AI app, whether they need quick answers, explanations, or a simple joke.

Users can select Deepika Padukone's voice in the Meta AI app under Device Settings > Meta AI > Language and Voice. Her voice joins a global lineup of celebrity voices for Meta's AI assistant, which includes Hollywood stars such as Awkwafina and Judi Dench.

The Ray-Ban Meta glasses now also offer full support for the Hindi language, enabling users to interact with Meta AI hands-free. By changing the language in the Meta AI app settings, users can ask questions, get information, take photos and videos, answer calls and texts, and control media, all in Hindi. This update incorporates tools from Sarvam, a prominent foundational model company in India.

In addition to the language support, Meta is introducing UPI Lite payments, allowing users to make payments under Rs 1,000 directly through their Ray-Ban Meta glasses. Users can simply look at a QR code and say, "Hey Meta, scan and pay," processing the payment through their WhatsApp-linked bank account.

For a limited time, users can also add a festive touch to their photos with Diwali-inspired restyling. By saying "Hey Meta, Restyle This" with their glasses, Meta AI will reimagine captures with Diwali-themed lights, fireworks, and rangoli effects. The restyled photos can be viewed on the Meta AI app.

Padukone's partnership with Meta arrives at a time when numerous Indian film stars and musicians are seeking legal protection for their personality rights amid the increasing misuse of their likeness through AI-generated deepfakes. This collaboration highlights the growing importance of safeguarding intellectual property and personality rights in the age of artificial intelligence.

Deepika Padukone's role as the new English voice of Meta AI not only marks a personal achievement but also signifies a step forward in integrating AI technology with cultural relevance and personalization.
