Malik shared the harrowing details on her social media, emphasizing how rapidly the situation escalated. She only noticed a flame behind her shoulder, but almost immediately, the fire had spread.

In a heroic act, Malik's father tore away her burning clothes, preventing more severe injuries. She sustained superficial burns on her fingers, shoulder, and back. Malik expressed immense gratitude for her father's quick thinking and action, stating that he saved her life.

The actress and poet urged everyone to prioritize safety during Diwali celebrations. She reflected on the trauma of the incident, acknowledging that it would leave a lasting impact.
