US Embassy Hails Collaboration With Indian Security Forces Following Bishnoi Arrest, Acknowledging Important Partnership.

The U.S. Embassy in India has commended its partnership with Indian security agencies following the arrest of Anmol Bishnoi, brother of jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi. Anmol Bishnoi was deported from the United States and taken into custody by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) upon arrival in Delhi.

In a statement posted on X, the U.S. Embassy in India stated, "We appreciate our ongoing partnership with India's security agencies as we work together to dismantle terror-associated networks and hold criminals accountable". The embassy further emphasized that this collaboration "underscores our shared commitment to ensuring the safety and security of our citizens". The U.S. Embassy also reposted a press release from the NIA regarding the arrest.

Anmol Bishnoi had been absconding since 2022 and is the 19th accused to be arrested in connection with the terror syndicate allegedly led by his brother, Lawrence Bishnoi. He is wanted in several criminal cases. These cases include the killing of former Maharashtra minister Baba Siddique, the murder of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala, and firing outside Bollywood actor Salman Khan's residence. The NIA had filed a chargesheet against Anmol in March 2023, which established his active involvement in aiding designated terrorist Goldy Brar and Lawrence Bishnoi in various acts of terrorism across India between 2020 and 2023.

NIA investigations revealed that Anmol continued to manage terror syndicates and carry out terrorist activities from the U.S. for the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, utilizing operatives on the ground. His activities included providing shelter and logistical support to gang shooters and ground operatives, as well as engaging in extortion activities within India.

Following his arrest, Anmol Bishnoi was presented before a Delhi court, which remanded him to 11 days of NIA custody. He is scheduled to appear in court again on November 29. The NIA is continuing to investigate the broader nexus between terrorists, gangsters, and arms traffickers, including their infrastructure and funding networks.

This collaborative effort between the U.S. and India highlights a growing partnership in defense and security. In October 2025, the two countries agreed to a 10-year defense partnership aimed at renewing and expanding defense relations. This partnership builds upon previous agreements, including defense exercises, technology exchanges, and manufacturing capabilities. The new agreement will broaden cooperation to include cyber and maritime security. The U.S. State Department has also recently approved the sale of Javelin anti-tank missile systems and Excalibur guided artillery munitions, worth $93 million, to India.

These collaborations also extend to the extradition of criminals. In October, Lakhvinder Kumar, a member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, was deported from the U.S. and arrested in Delhi. In June 2024, Nikhil Gupta, an Indian national, was extradited to the U.S. from the Czech Republic for his alleged role in a plot to assassinate a U.S. citizen in New York City.
