PM Modi at G20: Highlighting "One Earth, One Family, One Future" – India's Vision of Unity.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is in Johannesburg, South Africa, to participate in the G20 Summit, where he is set to present India's perspective, firmly rooted in the ancient philosophy of "Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam". This translates to "One Earth, One Family, One Future," encapsulating India's vision for a world where all nations collaborate for shared progress and prosperity.

The summit, being held on the African continent for the first time, is viewed as particularly significant. Modi highlighted this in a statement prior to his departure, emphasizing the importance of addressing global issues collaboratively. The theme of this year's G20 is 'Solidarity, Equality and Sustainability', which aligns with India's vision.

Upon his arrival in Johannesburg, Modi expressed his anticipation for productive discussions with world leaders, focusing on strengthening cooperation, advancing developmental priorities, and securing a better future for all. He also met with Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, discussing matters of mutual interest. Albanese conveyed his condolences regarding the recent blast in Delhi and the bus accident in Saudi Arabia, which claimed the lives of several Indians.

During the summit, which formally begins on November 22, 2025, Prime Minister Modi is expected to actively participate in all three key sessions. These sessions are centered around "Inclusive and Sustainable Economic Growth Leaving No One Behind," "A Resilient World – the G20's Contribution," and "A Fair and a Just Future for All". These topics include building economies, the role of trade, financing for development, debt burden, disaster risk reduction, climate change, energy transitions, food systems, critical minerals, decent work, and artificial intelligence.

India's commitment to addressing global challenges, particularly those faced by the Global South, will be a key focus. Terrorism is also expected to be raised as a serious concern. Modi is also scheduled to attend the 6th IBSA (India, Brazil, South Africa) Summit, further solidifying ties with key partner nations.

The Prime Minister will also engage with the Indian diaspora in South Africa, one of the largest Indian communities outside of India. This visit marks Modi's fourth official trip to South Africa, underscoring the strong bilateral relationship between the two countries. The G20 Summit provides a platform for India to strengthen its relationships with other member countries and promote its vision for a more equitable and sustainable world. The African Union's inclusion as a G20 member during India's presidency in 2023 was a significant step towards greater inclusivity. This summit is the fourth consecutive G20 summit to be held in the Global South.
