New Delhi: Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi lauded Operation Sindoor as a demonstration of exceptional teamwork and the effective integration of technology in modern military strategy. Speaking at a convocation ceremony at the New Delhi Institute of Management (NDIM), General Dwivedi emphasized the operation's success was rooted in the "synergistic role" played by every member involved, comparing it to a "trusted orchestra".
Operation Sindoor, executed earlier this year, involved the Indian armed forces' strategic response to terror infrastructure. The operation saw the destruction of nine terrorist targets in a swift 22-minute offensive. General Dwivedi highlighted that the operation reflected years of anticipation, where intelligence, precision, and technology converged into decisive action.
The Army Chief underscored the importance of visualizing potential scenarios and trusting the team to ensure rapid decision-making during the operation. He stated that the military conflict, which lasted approximately 88 hours, concluded after both nations reached an understanding on the evening of May 10.
In addition to praising the operational execution, General Dwivedi issued a strong warning to Pakistan, asserting that Operation Sindoor was merely a "trailer". He conveyed that the Indian armed forces are fully prepared to respond decisively to any future provocations, ready to "teach" Pakistan how to behave responsibly as a neighbor. He cautioned that India would treat terrorists and their sponsors with equal measure.
Dwivedi highlighted key lessons learned from Operation Sindoor, including the importance of integration between forces, ensuring adequate supplies for prolonged engagements, and the need for timely decision-making at all command levels. He emphasized that modern battles are multi-domain in nature, requiring seamless coordination between the Army, Navy, Air Force, and other security forces.
Furthermore, General Dwivedi noted the improving security situation in Jammu and Kashmir following the abrogation of Article 370 in 2019, with a significant decline in terrorist incidents. He also mentioned the improving relations between India and China following high-level talks. Dwivedi asserted India's strong deterrence capabilities, stating that the nation is not afraid of blackmail attempts, alluding to Pakistan's nuclear threats. He also emphasized that talks and terror cannot coexist.
The Army Chief's remarks came during a period of heightened geopolitical tensions and underscore India's commitment to maintaining regional stability and responding effectively to security challenges. He advised the graduating students at NDIM to lead with "wisdom, humility, and power" as they navigate a constantly evolving world.
