Manchester, England – In a press conference held earlier today, Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim defended his decision to allow Rasmus Hojlund to leave the club on loan to Napoli following the arrival of Benjamin Sesko, especially in light of Sesko's recent injury. The Portuguese coach addressed concerns about squad depth and the rationale behind reshaping the attacking options at Old Trafford.

"The decision to bring in Benjamin [Sesko] was a strategic one, aimed at strengthening our attacking line for the long term," Amorim stated. "Benjamin's qualities were evident, and we believed he would offer a different dimension to our play." Sesko, who arrived from RB Leipzig for a reported £70 million during the summer transfer window, was seen as a key part of Amorim's plans to revitalize United's attack after a disappointing season where they finished 15th.

However, Sesko suffered a hamstring injury during training last week, ruling him out for an estimated three months. This setback has led to questions about the wisdom of letting Hojlund, who struggled to find consistent form last season, leave on loan. Hojlund only managed four league goals last season, leading to frustration among fans.

Amorim acknowledged the concerns but stood by his decision. "Of course, Benjamin's injury is a blow, and it changes our immediate plans," he admitted. "But we have to look at the bigger picture. We believe in the squad we have, and this provides an opportunity for other players to step up."

He further elaborated on the reasoning behind Hojlund's loan move: "Rasmus is a young player with potential, and he needs regular game time to develop. At this stage, we couldn't guarantee him that here, especially with Benjamin's arrival. The loan to Napoli allows him to play consistently at a high level, and we will be monitoring his progress closely." Amorim highlighted a key similarity between Sesko and Hojlund, noting the work ethic that both players bring to the pitch. He had praised Hojlund for his effort even when he wasn't scoring goals and expressed similar sentiments about Sesko's willingness to work hard for the team.

The Manchester United manager also addressed reports suggesting that Sesko's arrival was intended to push Hojlund out of the club permanently. "That was never the intention," Amorim clarified. "We believe that competition for places is healthy, and we initially felt that Benjamin's presence would push Rasmus to improve and fight for his place. However, the loan move was deemed the best option for his development at this moment."

Amorim also emphasized his confidence in the remaining attacking options within the squad. "We have players like [other players' names] who are capable of playing through the middle, and this gives us tactical flexibility" When asked about the possibility of recalling Hojlund in January, Amorim didn't rule it out, stating, "We will assess the situation in January and make a decision that is in the best interests of both the club and the player"

Despite Sesko's injury setback, Amorim remains optimistic about the season ahead. "We know we have work to do, and this injury presents a challenge," he concluded. "But I have full faith in the players we have here, and we will continue to work hard to achieve our goals."
