Gujarat Police Review Reveals Details of 31,834 Serious Crime Suspects Arrested and Under Examination.

Gujarat Police have completed a comprehensive verification drive, examining 31,834 individuals previously arrested for serious offenses, marking a significant effort to bolster state security. This initiative, রাজ্যের পুলিশ প্রধান বিকাশ সহায়-এর তত্ত্বাবধানে পরিচালিত হয়েছে. The operation, prompted by recent terrorist activities and a bomb blast in New Delhi, involved reviewing records from the past three decades and conducting door-to-door verification.

The verification process targeted individuals involved in serious crimes under various laws, including the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), the Terrorist and Disruptive Activities (Prevention) Act (TADA), the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, the Arms Act, and the Explosives Act, as well as cases involving fake Indian currency. Officers gathered updated information regarding the accused's current activities and employment.

DGP Sahay stated that approximately 37% of the total accused, or 11,880 individuals, were located, and dossiers for all of them have been completed. In addition, 2,326 of the accused are deceased, 3,744 have changed addresses (which will be followed up), and 4,506 are located outside Gujarat. Sahay noted the successful completion of the first phase of verification, with plans for more intensive action in the second phase through the preparation of special Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

In Surat, police have been actively investigating approximately 2,400 suspects as part of a statewide 100-hour drive. Dossiers have been prepared for 700 individuals, with the remaining expected to be completed shortly. The Surat Police Commissioner announced the creation of a special list of suspects involved in serious crimes, including those registered under the Arms Act, Explosives Act, Terror Act, NDPS Act, and cases of fake currency and oil theft. These dossiers contain detailed information about the suspects' activities and criminal history, including personal and technical details such as current appearance, property records, residences, photos, and past criminal cases. Information is being gathered from multiple sources to ensure accuracy.

Surat police are also focusing on suspects involved in previous bombings in Surat and Ahmedabad, monitoring their movements, associations, and activities. As part of current security measures, the police are also monitoring terror funding to prevent financial support for terrorist activities.

These initiatives highlight the Gujarat Police's commitment to proactively addressing potential threats and maintaining security within the state, especially in light of recent events. The focus on thorough verification, detailed dossiers, and monitoring of suspicious activities demonstrates a comprehensive approach to law enforcement and counter-terrorism efforts.
