The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has intensified its criticism of the Karnataka Congress government with a new AI-generated video that mocks the perceived power struggle between Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar. The video, which has been widely circulated on social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, uses satire to portray the alleged tussle for the chief minister's chair.
The AI-powered video depicts caricatures of Siddaramaiah, Shivakumar, and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi. It begins with Gandhi and Siddaramaiah sending a WhatsApp message to Shivakumar containing a scratch card. Upon scratching the card, Shivakumar discovers a "No Chair November" reward, implying he will not be assuming the Chief Minister's position as part of any speculated power-sharing agreement. The video then shows Gandhi and Siddaramaiah laughing, highlighting the BJP's claim of internal discord within the Congress.
The BJP's post accompanying the video on X stated, "It is 'No Chair November' for @DKShivakumar,". This refers to the ongoing speculation about a change in leadership dynamics within the Karnataka Congress. Following the Congress party's victory in the 2023 assembly elections, there was talk of Siddaramaiah and Shivakumar sharing the Chief Minister's term, with each serving for two and a half years. However, Siddaramaiah has seemingly asserted his position as a full-term Chief Minister, leading to uncertainty among some Congress leaders regarding a potential change in the Chief Minister's role.
This isn't the first time the BJP has used AI-generated content to target the Karnataka Congress government. The party seems to be strategically employing technology to highlight what it describes as infighting and a lack of good governance within the Congress. By creating and disseminating these videos, the BJP aims to gain political mileage by portraying the Congress as being more focused on internal power struggles than on governing the state effectively.
D.K. Shivakumar has consistently dismissed claims of a power struggle, maintaining that the Congress party in Karnataka is united. He has stated that only the agreements between him and the Chief Minister matter, downplaying the significance of external speculation. Despite these denials, the BJP continues to amplify the narrative of a "CM Nataka" (Chief Minister Drama) to exploit perceived divisions within the ruling party. The term "November Revolution" has also been used to suggest potential changes in the Chief Ministerial position and a possible cabinet reshuffle.
The BJP's "Out of Stock" jibe, as encapsulated in the AI video, is part of a broader strategy to undermine the Congress government in Karnataka. By leveraging AI and social media, the BJP seeks to influence public perception and raise questions about the stability and unity of the ruling coalition.
