Frost Secure Thrilling 2-1 Victory Against Goldeneyes, Thanks to Heise's Overtime Goal at Rogers Place.

EDMONTON, AB – Taylor Heise's first goal of the season, scored 2:57 into overtime, propelled the Minnesota Frost to a 2-1 victory over the Vancouver Goldeneyes on Saturday. The Professional Women's Hockey League (PWHL) Takeover Tour made a stop at Rogers Place in Edmonton for this exciting match.

The game, witnessed by a crowd of 10,264, mostly Vancouver fans, saw a flurry of action in the opening minutes before settling into a defensive battle. Abby Hustler also scored for the Frost, while Maddie Rooney recorded 27 saves. Izzy Daniel was the lone goal scorer for the Goldeneyes, with Emerance Maschmeyer stopping 33 shots.

The Frost capitalized early, just 26 seconds into the game, after Gabby Rosenthal of the Goldeneyes received a penalty for delay of game. Hustler fired a shot from the slot, converting a power play opportunity resulting from crisp passes. Vancouver responded quickly, with Daniel backhanding a rebound past Rooney less than two minutes later to tie the game.

Despite a series of penalties that allowed Minnesota to control the puck for a significant portion of the first period, sharp saves by Maschmeyer and crucial blocks by Vancouver defenders kept the score even. The second period saw both goalies stand tall as the teams traded chances. The Goldeneyes outshot the Frost 8-5 in the second, but neither team was able to score. Vancouver had a power play opportunity but could not capitalize.

The Frost dominated the third period in shots, outshooting the Goldeneyes 13-4, but Maschmeyer remained unbeatable, sending the game into overtime. Vancouver had a golden opportunity on a power play with about 5 minutes left in the third, but could not manage a shot on goal.

In overtime, Heise secured the win for the Frost, rifling a shot from the left faceoff circle just under the crossbar. This was Heise's first goal of the season, ending a six-game drought.

The game was the third of 16 PWHL Takeover Tour stops this season and the first of two scheduled in Edmonton. The second Edmonton game is set for April 7, 2026. The Takeover Tour features regular-season games played outside of the league's current home cities.

The Frost will visit Toronto on Tuesday, while the Goldeneyes will visit New York on Wednesday.
