India Open Badminton Tournament: Indira Gandhi Stadium Hosts January 13-18 Competition.

The Yonex-Sunrise India Open 2026 is set to ignite the courts of the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium in New Delhi from January 13 to 18, 2026. This Super 750 badminton tournament, organized by the Badminton Association of India (BAI) under the Badminton World Federation (BWF), is a major event on the BWF World Tour.

The India Open 2026 boasts a total prize pool of USD 950,000 and offers up to 11,000 ranking points. The move to the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium, which has a seating capacity of over 8,000, marks a significant step in the tournament's growth and aims to provide an enhanced experience for both players and spectators. The stadium's capacity is more than double that of the previous venue.

Badminton enthusiasts can anticipate witnessing fierce competition among some of the world's top shuttlers, including An Se-young, PV Sindhu, Kunlavut Vitidsarn, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy, Chirag Shetty, and Lakshya Sen. Rising Indian talents such as Unnati Hooda and Ayush Shetty are also expected to showcase their skills during the six-day event.

Sanjay Mishra, the General Secretary of BAI, emphasized the importance of the venue shift, stating that it allows for accommodating significantly more fans while delivering a better on-ground experience. He noted that as Indian badminton continues to grow, it is essential for flagship events to evolve, creating spaces where the sport, athletes, and fans can thrive.

Tickets for the Yonex-Sunrise India Open 2026 are available exclusively online through Ticmint, with prices starting at INR 400. Premium seats are priced up to INR 1,750. An initial ticketing phase, offering the best discounts for match days including knockout rounds, runs until the end of December. Subsequent phases in early January will continue to provide affordable options leading up to the finals. It is recommended to arrive at least 60 to 90 minutes before the scheduled start of the matches to allow ample time for security checks and seating. Gates typically open 1 hour before the first match of the day starts.
