Bollywood actor Sonu Sood recently visited the Varahi Gaushala in Patan, Gujarat, demonstrating his continued commitment to animal welfare. Impressed by the Gaushala's growth from a small shelter to caring for approximately 7,000 cows, Sood donated ₹11 lakh to support their upkeep.
During his visit, Sood actively participated in feeding the cows and interacted with locals and officials, expressing his admiration for their dedication to animal welfare. He lauded the efforts of the villagers and the Gaushala's trustees, stating, "The contribution of the entire village and the trustees of the gaushala are praiseworthy". He also expressed his desire to revisit the Gaushala and even dine at the homes of the villagers.
Sood emphasized the pride he felt in the Gaushala's journey and its consistent assistance to animals. He remarked, "When I see their journey, which started with just a few cows and has now reached seven thousand, it's a matter of great pride, not only for us but for every person in every village". He further added that while he may not be able to contribute as much as they do, he and his foundation were donating ₹11 lakh to support their ongoing work.
Sood also highlighted the importance of cow protection and suggested that the model implemented at Varahi Gaushala should be replicated across India. "The way cow protection is done in such an amazing way here should be implemented throughout India," he told the media.
This act of charity aligns with Sood's ongoing philanthropic work through his Sood Charity Foundation, which focuses on assisting those in need. His humanitarian efforts were recently recognized with a Humanitarian Award at the Miss World Festival in Telangana.
On the professional front, Sonu Sood debuted as a director with the action thriller film 'Fateh', featuring Naseeruddin Shah, Jacqueline Fernandez, Vijay Raaz, and Dibyendu Bhattacharya. He recently celebrated the one-year anniversary of the film's release.
