Suniel Shetty recently shared his thoughts on his son Ahaan Shetty's early career struggles following his debut film, Tadap. Speaking at the song launch of Ahaan's upcoming film, Border 2, Suniel became emotional as he reflected on the challenges Ahaan faced after his initial foray into Bollywood.
Ahaan Shetty, son of veteran actor Suniel Shetty, entered the Hindi film industry with Tadap in 2021. The film, a remake of the Telugu hit RX 100, featured Ahaan alongside Tara Sutaria. While Tadap earned Ahaan the IIFA Award for Star Debut of the Year – Male, it didn't fare well at the box office, marking a difficult start to his career.
Suniel openly discussed the "turmoil" the family experienced after Tadap's release. He challenged the common belief that being a star kid guarantees a smooth entry into the film industry. According to Suniel, Ahaan had to navigate his own set of challenges, emphasizing that privilege doesn't shield young actors from the harsh realities of the film industry. He revealed that after his debut, there was a quiet period, which created "a kind of turmoil within the family".
The veteran actor expressed how difficult it was to witness his son's struggles. Beyond the emotional toll, it tested the family's patience and resilience. Suniel said, "Everyone thinks, yes, Suniel Shetty's son would have got a lot of work. But somewhere or the other, there's a lot that Ahaan went through in life".
However, Suniel sees Ahaan's role in Border 2 as a turning point and a "blessing". He expressed his gratitude to the film's creators, Nidhi Dutta and JP Dutta, for giving Ahaan this opportunity at a crucial juncture in his career. "Border 2 couldn't have come at a better time," Suniel stated. He also thanked the entire team for believing in his son and showing him immense love and support.
"Border 2 represents far more than just another film—it's a validation of his son's talent and determination," Suniel said. He added that Nidhi and the entire team believed in Ahaan when it mattered most, for which he is deeply grateful. Suniel also expressed that he has always told Ahaan to do whatever he does with complete sincerity and passion.
Border 2, also starring Sunny Deol and Varun Dhawan alongside Ahaan Shetty, is scheduled to hit theaters on January 23, 2026.
