Daniel Stern, the actor widely recognized for his role as Marv in the "Home Alone" franchise, has been charged with one misdemeanor count of soliciting prostitution in California. The Ventura County District Attorney's office confirmed that the charge was filed on January 12, 2026, and Stern's arraignment is scheduled for January 13.
According to reports, the incident occurred on December 10, 2025, at a motel in Camarillo, California. Law enforcement cited Stern at the location, and he was subsequently released. A spokesperson for the Ventura County District Attorney, Joey Buttitta, stated that the Sheriff's Office submitted the citation, which was then reviewed by prosecutors.
In California, soliciting prostitution is a misdemeanor offense. If convicted, Stern could face penalties of up to six months in jail and a $1,000 fine.
Stern, 68, is best known for his portrayal of the "Wet Bandit" Marv Murchins in the classic holiday films "Home Alone" and "Home Alone 2: Lost in New York". He also starred in "City Slickers" and "City Slickers II: The Legend of Curly's Gold", and provided the adult voice for Kevin Arnold in "The Wonder Years".
In recent years, Stern has transitioned away from acting and now resides on a ranch in California with his wife. He pursues his passion for sculpting and farming, tending to cattle and growing citrus trees. In December, Stern mentioned that he was commissioned by the current owners of the "Home Alone" house in Illinois to create a sculpture of himself with the tarantula from the iconic scene with Macaulay Culkin’s character.
As of now, Daniel Stern has not publicly commented on the charge.
